Traditional use

Mechanism of Action

Venotonic and capillary-strengthening action through improved endothelial integrity; mild diuretic effect increasing urine volume and reducing crystalluria risk

Research Notes

The saponin fraction of Collinsonia has not been fully characterized. Traditional Eclectic literature strongly supports efficacy for hemorrhoids and venous congestion. Modern pharmacological studies are lacking. The mechanism is inferred from the known activities of saponins in related species.
