Dictyophorine B

Preliminary

Mechanism of Action

Functions synergistically with dictyophorine A to promote NGF synthesis in astroglial cells. Shares the eudesmane carbon skeleton but differs in hydroxylation pattern, contributing to complementary neurotrophic bioactivity through astroglial cell stimulation.

Research Notes

Co-isolated with dictyophorine A by Kawagishi et al. (1997). Demonstrated NGF-promoting activity in the same astroglial cell assay system, though with somewhat different potency. The compound broadens the neurotrophic chemical space of Phallus indusiatus beyond its polysaccharide constituents.
