Lupeol
In vitro / AnimalMechanism of Action
Research Notes
Documented anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties in animal models and in vitro studies.
Lupeol from Agnimantha is one of the key active triterpenoids in Dashamoola. In vitro and animal studies demonstrate significant anti-inflammatory and analgesic activity.
Lupeol is widely distributed across medicinal plants and is among the better-characterised triterpenoids. Consistent anti-inflammatory and hepatoprotective activity in rodent models; prostate protective effects in TRAMP mouse carcinogenesis models. Its contribution to Muira Puama's aphrodisiac effects is indirect at best; it is more relevant to the anti-inflammatory and trophic tissue-supporting aspects of the herb's adaptogenic profile.
