Clinical trialMechanism of Action
Research Notes
Aoki et al. (1987) demonstrated that LEM suppressed hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) in chronic hepatitis B carriers in a controlled trial. Suzuki et al. (1990) showed LEM improved liver function markers in chronic hepatitis patients. Gordon et al. (1998) published a pilot study of LEM in HIV patients showing trends toward improved CD4 counts and reduced viral load. Anti-hepatitis and hepatoprotective effects are best documented; oncology data is limited to preclinical models.
