Mechanism of Action

Hemostatic — promotes platelet aggregation and fibrin clot formation; neurotoxic at high doses (structurally related to BOAA/ODAP)

Research Notes

Responsible for hemostatic action of San Qi. Promoted platelet aggregation in human plasma. Structurally similar to neurotoxin ODAP (causes lathyrism) — but different compound; neurotoxicity only at very high doses.
