Aloe-emodin has shown selective cytotoxicity against several human cancer cell lines including liver, lung, and leukemia cells in vitro. However, it also demonstrates genotoxic potential in bacterial mutagenicity assays. Clinical relevance for anticancer applications remains unestablished, and safety concerns limit internal use of concentrated preparations.
